The Department of Transportation Engineering District 6-0 traffic unit is actively searching for a skilled and motivated individual to join our 24-hour regional traffic management center. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will handle technical tasks related to monitoring and coordinating communications for real-time traffic conditions at a 24-hour Regional Traffic Management Center (RTMC). Your responsibilities include assessing and sharing information about both emergency and non-emergency traffic situations. You will gather data from various sources, such as police scanners and cameras, to confirm traffic events, verify incidents with relevant authorities, and communicate updates via two-way radios and phones. Additionally, you will evaluate traffic conditions, suggest alternative routes, and input data into systems like the Road Condition Reporting System while operating Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment.
Your duties also involve dispatching freeway service patrols and collaborating with department staff and other emergency management agencies. You will work independently, following established policies, with your work being reviewed for accuracy by the RTMC floor supervisor. A solid understanding of ITS field devices, including closed circuit TV cameras, changeable message signs, ramp meters, and traffic signal systems, is essential. You should also be familiar with the maintenance needs of these devices and be capable of troubleshooting issues.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience evaluating and coordinating information related to traffic data, incidents or conditions.
