We are onboarding new employees using a hybrid approach. The Department supports flexible work arrangements. Description Of Job

What you'll be doing:

Position first serves as an intern to gain knowledge, skills and experience with data collection and reporting on the hospital market and hospital financials. Position will work closely with senior analysts and management in gathering and inputting data and performing calculations as directed by others in the Division or in Standard Operating Procedures maintained by the Division. This position will also gain a working knowledge of hospital financial data submitted by hospitals providers to CMS and the Department for reporting purposes. Lastly, this position will gain a broader exposure to special projects common in the Section and may be called upon to work with others in obtaining relevant data, preparing useful databases, analyzing data, applying appropriate mathematical, financial, statistical or regression techniques, and reporting findings to management.

The training regimen of this entry level position includes learning how to:

  • Gather appropriate data, analyze it, and report concise, meaningful findings to management or others in the Division.
  • Assist in reviewing accuracy of data reported by providers.
  • Peer review calculations and materials done by other team members.
  • Assist and provide input to team reports.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Only:

Four (4) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

OR

Education And Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Healthcare Administration, Economics, Statistics, Accounting or Mathematics will count for four years. An unrelated degree and two (2) years of experience related to the work assignment will also be accepted.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Accounting or Mathematics
  • 6 months' experience working in an academic/professional research setting
  • 6 months' experience working with Financial Statements or Economics data


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proficiency with Window-based software packages involving spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation applications
  • Proficient professional or technical writing skills
  • Data experience
  • Tableau experience

Conditions Of Employment
