Job Title: Data Analyst II (Data Scientist)

Location: Sunnyvale,CA 94089

Duration: 6 Months

Job Description :

This position will be responsible for:

• Support effective decision-making through economic, financial and market analysis of critical issues, including capacity planning, price and cost modeling, and returns on investment.

• Support the capacity forecasting, budgeting and reporting efforts for operating expense, capital and resource allocation.

• Design and coordinate the development of systems and tools to keep pace with the group's growing and rapidly changing businesses.

Job Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field. A graduate degree (MBA or equivalent) and 2-3 years of capacity experience.

• Strong analytic skills and a demonstrated ability to build and manage financial models for business forecasting, variance analysis, and problem solving.

• Direct experience in operations or capacity planning a plus.

• Fluency in standard software including MS Excel. Knowledge of SQL is a strong plus.

• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

• Successful characteristics for the position are the ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail, the ability to work independently, adjust priorities, and work in a continuously changing environment.

Story Behind the Need Business Group & Key Projects:

Business Group:

• HM has around 10 team members (machine learning engineers, SDE's, Data scientist mix)

• Team is back in office fully onsite

• Brainstorm ideas especially on Data or customer behavior data for Music Search

• Millions of records coming in every hour

• Making sure data quality is good, how-to do-good analysis, how to compute metrics, how to use data to generate machine learning for signals.

• More typical classic client engineering team

Key Projects:

• None specific, but for project based there is data forecasting models, deep analysis for music engagement data, some optimizations (data processing, sanitizing, typical framework for data pipeline)

Typical Day in the Role:

Interaction level with team:

• Working closely with other data scientist.

• Stand up every morning

Day to day:

• 2-week sprint planning

• Daily 10am stand up

• Ticket driven tasks

• Sprint planning activities

• Track ticket system

• Daily check in (blockers, progress, etc.)

• ADHOC tasks from other stakeholders that contractor can help with.

• Analysis that may be urgent from product issue, escalation, etc.

• Prioritize tasks, and accurate time management need.

Candidate Requirements:

Leadership Principle:

• Deliver results have planned, sense of task completion in time

• Customer obsession lot of analysis is done based on customer behavior

• Earns trust not just working with immediate teams, but product as well. Need to present insight and analysis to directors, senior leadership.

YOE:

• 2-3 Data scientist experience

• To be able to ramp quickly

• Have current data scientists to help with ramp

• Not looking for senior data scientist

Degree's/cert:

• Anything relevant to computer scientist preferred

Resume stand out:

• Working history with large data

• Preferred working with large tech companies

Top 3 must-have hard skills

• Statistical skills/business intelligence tools (SAS, R) // Scripting language (SQL, PYTHON)

• Larger data processing (Spark, etc.)

• Modeling experience
