**Hours:** Full Time - 40 hr/ week

**About Us:**

Founded in 2015 by a diverse group of women, our organization provides culturally relevant education and leadership development opportunities for Youth of Color. Our mission is to teach and frame science and nature-based education through a lens that centers and elevates the stories, ways of knowing, individual needs, and lived experiences of Black and Brown communities. We aim to reduce the achievement gap in STEAMED (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, Environment, Design) education and professions while creating a sense of belonging for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPoC) in both natural and built environments. We use a multi-cultural approach to STEAMED education that is rooted in environmental justice and cultural history.

**Position Overview:**

The Communications Manager will capture the highlights, milestones, and experiences of our organization and leverage them for promotional use and awareness among stakeholders and various target audiences. This role involves working closely with program directors and upper management to address communication needs and strategize communication plans. The Communications Manager will develop communication campaign deliverables, objectives, and timelines, and provide instructions for promotion or use while executing plans. They will also maintain an inventory of marketing materials and create new marketing materials and strategies as needed.

**Essential Duties:**

**Storytelling & Communications (60%):**

- Manage the organization's website and event calendar.
- Regularly review and maintain the website, including supervising and directing sub-contractors and freelance web designers.
- Streamline communication channels to establish uniform messaging and brand identity.
- Supervise and manage design contractors to create graphics and visual materials.
- Gather assets and coordinate with photographers and staff to produce updated headshots and bios.
- Lead annual communications planning sessions.

**Social Media:**

- Develop and implement social media strategies and editorial calendars.
- Create brand Social Media content with a focus on racial equity.
- Design graphics, brand guidelines, and editorial calendars for consistent messaging.
- Publish camp advertising info and registration details for various programs and events.

**Video, Photography, Media Coverage:**

- Lead the development of storytelling video projects.
- Supervise and direct subcontractors to capture photos and footage.
- Present materials to various audiences through multiple channels.
- Coordinate with other organizations to produce and record educational videos.
- Compile interview panels, media requests, and releases.
- Schedule media coverage opportunities to craft stories around the organization's agenda and accomplishments.

**Newsletter and Communications:**

- Collaborate on regular newsletters and write organizational newsletters.
- Implement brand guidelines and shared language.
- Create newsletters, E-blasts, and announcements.
- Develop written materials for volunteer and job opportunities.
- Design collateral such as brochures, T-shirts, logos, and business cards.

**Community Engagement & Program Support (20%):**

- Promote STEAM learning opportunities and develop standardized registration processes.
- Maintain an inventory of marketing materials and share instructions on their use.
- Coordinate with specific parties to create new marketing materials and resources.
- Visit event sites to collect content relating to programs and camp sessions.
- Establish cooperative relationships with programming staff and project management teams.
- Ensure the registration and application process is accessible to the public or qualified candidates.
- Coordinate with translators for Spanish translation of various media projects.

**Fundraising & Development (20%):**

- Support planning and execution of fundraising campaigns.
- Develop strategies for promotional campaigns and donor engagement.
- Create graphics, weekly posts, stories, and newsletters for campaigns.
- Support and participate in corporate engagement and giving activities.
- Collaborate on the development of annual appeals, text, and visuals.
- Research and study analytics of engagement to improve messaging techniques.
- Support donor stewardship by preparing gifts and thank you notes.
- Manage online donor management platforms.
- Develop online store and organized shop page.
- Facilitate visual storytelling for promotional purposes through website and social media platforms.

**Events:**

- Design and lead planning, implementation, and production of fundraising events.
- Coordinate activities related to event programs.
- Collaborate with the fundraising team to achieve event fundraising goals.
- Secure sponsors, in-kind donations, and raffle items for fundraising events.
- Supervise the Events Intern in managing event logistics.
- Maintain master event files and records.
- Lead annual evaluation of events and recommend revisions for future versions.

**Teamwork:**

- Coordinate vendors with camp staff and team members as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Supervise Graphic Design contractor

**Required Qualifications:*

- High School Graduate or GED complete, can be current college student with design experience.
- Must be able to pass a background check as required by the Oregon Department of Education for positions that work directly with youth and have a clean driving record for one year prior to application.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Bachelor's Degree
- 2 years of experience in marketing and communications
- Proficiency with marketing-related software programs
