Cardiac Cath Lab Technician
Black Hills Heart and Vascular Institute
Rapid City, SD Full-time position

Black Hills Surgical Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Cardiac Cath Lab Technician to join our Black Hills Heart and Vascular Institute team. The successful candidate will help oversee the daily operations of our cardiac catheterization laboratory, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient workflow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, and other cardiovascular procedures
• Operate and maintain sophisticated imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring systems
• Prepare sterile field and instruments for procedures
• Monitor and record patient vital signs
• Administer medications and contrast media as directed by physicians
• Circulate during procedures and anticipate physician needs
• Assist with patient care before, during, and after procedures
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency procedures
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of procedures
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide excellent patient care

Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Cardiovascular Technology or related field
• Current RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification preferred; must obtain within 18 months of hire if not currently certified
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• 1-3 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab preferred
• Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting ECGs and hemodynamic waveforms
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and wear lead aprons
• Capable of lifting and moving equipment up to 50 pounds
• Visual acuity to read displays and operate equipment
