Job Description

About the Company:
We are a creative studio focused on producing high-quality tabletop role-playing games (RPGs) and immersive digital experiences. We pride ourselves on creating visually captivating worlds and assets that bring our RPGs to life. We are seeking a talented 3D Modeler to join our team on a 1099 contractor basis.

Position Overview:
As a 3D Modeler , you will be responsible for creating detailed and high-quality 3D assets for our RPG projects. These assets may include characters, environments, creatures, props, and other models that support the visual direction of our game world. You will collaborate with game designers, concept artists, and other team members to ensure the models align with the project’s artistic vision and functional requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Create 3D models for a variety of assets, including characters, environments, objects, and creatures, based on provided concept art and design specifications.
  • Work with the art and design teams to ensure that 3D models fit within the visual style of the project and meet both artistic and technical requirements.
  • Use sculpting, modeling, and texturing tools to create assets in high and low poly formats, ensuring a balance between aesthetics and performance.
  • UV unwrap and texture 3D models as needed, ensuring proper shading and materials for realistic or stylized rendering.
  • Optimize 3D models for integration into game engines or other platforms, ensuring efficient use of resources while maintaining visual quality.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members, including animators and developers, to ensure the models are compatible with animation rigs and gameplay mechanics.
  • Revise and iterate on models based on feedback from the art director, project leads, or other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical specifications and documentation for the models to ensure proper implementation in game engines or other digital platforms.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a 3D Modeler, ideally with a focus on RPGs, gaming, or similar industries.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Blender, Autodesk Maya, ZBrush, or similar tools.
  • Experience with texturing software such as Substance Painter, Adobe Photoshop, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of 3D modeling principles, including topology, UV mapping, and texturing.
  • Ability to create both stylized and realistic models based on the project’s visual direction.
  • Experience optimizing 3D models for use in game engines, including knowledge of polycount, level of detail (LOD), and asset optimization for performance.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your 3D modeling skills, including characters, environments, and objects that demonstrate your expertise.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and handle feedback in a constructive manner.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with a remote team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
  • Familiarity with rigging and animation principles to ensure models are compatible with game mechanics.
  • Knowledge of advanced 3D techniques such as sculpting, PBR texturing, and environment design.
  • Ability to create assets for both high and low-poly models, including real-time optimization techniques.
  • Understanding of the specific needs for creating 3D assets for tabletop RPGs (e.g., miniatures, assets for virtual tabletops).

How to Apply:
Please submit your resume, portfolio, and a cover letter detailing your experience with 3D modeling. Your portfolio should include examples of 3D models you’ve created, particularly for gaming, RPGs, or other similar projects. Be sure to include models that demonstrate a range of skills (characters, environments, props, etc.).

Note: This is a 1099 contractor position, meaning the contractor will be responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and other benefits. The contractor must have the necessary equipment (software, computer, etc.) to complete the required 3D modeling work.
